If you like your Christmas music old, from the days your grandparents were young then have I got an excellent collection of Christmas music for you. There are loads of easy listening gems on this mix, there are a bunch of speakeasy style old jazz Christmas tunes, there are some bluesy tunes and a whole load of quirky offbeat instrumental cuts that are surely going to brighten any Christmas party up. I’m sure most of these songs will be pretty obscure for the average listener but you’ll hear a familiar tune here and there. There’s a cover like Frosty The Snowman by Jimmy Boyd. I tried to make sure there weren’t many recognizable tunes but this version of Frosty The Snowman by Jimmy Boyd slipped in. You’ll also hear another familiarly popular Christmas rendition of Jingle Bells called Swingin’ Them Jingle Bells by Fats Waller & His Rhythm. This version of Jingle Bells has certainly been changed a bit around. It’s got the quirky cartoony vocals as well. Kind of like what you’d hear on The Little Rascals show. It’s very fun. There’s also another version Jingle Bells called the Jingle Bells Stomp by Ira Ironstrings. This version is a bit more honky tonky, dixieland, space age, pop style, exotica and very fun to listen to. It was fun enough to throw into the mix of mostly obscure Christmas hits.

The Best Vintage Christmas Songs Ever playlist has a very speakeasy, jazzy, swing feel to it as many of the songs on this playlist are from that speakeasy jazz era. And a lot of the songs are definitely instrumental but there are the few vocal songs thrown in like Santa Claus Came In The Spring by Putney Dandridge or Christmas Island by The Andrews Sisters with Guy Lombardo. Or even a cute, fun song like Suzy Snowflake by Rosemary Clooney. Or how about Send Me Your Love by Dorothy Collins. A two and half minute mostly instrumental song with a brief vocal part that Dorothy Collins innocently sings on. They just don’t make Christmas songs like these Christmas songs anymore. These are very proper, family oriented tunes that everyone was used to 50 to 75 years ago. Very innocent and very clean songs. Makes you wonder what happened to musicians today?
